Time is Flying by...

After an exciting past two weeks, I am now back in Marinette. There is never a moment when I don't miss my family, but I think I have come to realize that I am ready to move on with life. As I sit here and wish I were somewhere else, it occurs to me that this is the last time I will officially be living at home...2 more months...and that's it! I will be moving back to GB in Sept. for one semester and then it's all over...another chapter in my life....done. It's pretty sad when you think about it, but I don't regret any of it. I would like to think that my college years are really worth remembering...I don't think I could have asked for anything better. If you have been someone who has touched my life, I thank you with all my heart.

I also have another love in my life....guitar. I have fallen in love with playing guitar and learning how to play. I took a few lessons during high school, but for some reason I dropped it before I had a chance to really make any sort of withstanding progress. I guess I was just really focused on singing and then once I entered college, I was really preoccupied with the million classes I had to take a music major. Sadly, guitar faded from my life. Then I started getting involved in a lot of competitions and people would ask me if I wrote any of my own music. When asked that question, I would automatically say 'no'...I guess I just never gave myself the chance or never took the time to try. To make a long story short, I started picking up my guitar for the past few months now and I love it. When summer started, I had a few weeks when I didn't really have much going on so I would play literally for hours and hours a day (there was a week where I played for 7 hours a day...and yes, I couldn't feel the tips of my fingers). Anyways, I became obsessed with the 'tab world'...the internet is such an amazing tool and I think we take it for granted...I can't imagine life without the net....amazing! Anyways, so I have been learning song after song...I'm not perfect, but I enjoy it and it has made me fall in love with music all over again (deep stuff, huh?). I have also started to write some stuff...again, nothing really complex, but hey, it's my own stuff...and I really enjoy writing too. I can't believe I didn't start a long time ago...just goes to prove that you can miss out on the most wonderful things in life just by thinking you can't do it. I guess I am trying to encourage those of you who want something to just do it...who cares if someone doesn't like it...or if someone thinks you can't...you can and will prove them wrong. My ultimate goal is to continue writing as much as possible and produce a cd with original songs...I have so much respect for songwriter/singers...I think it's really hard to put yourself and your own music out there...it's a vulnerable experience...it is for me anyways, but there isn't a challenge out there that I am not willing to try and overcome...I will be appearing at the 'Third Annual SHOWTIME' in Manitowoc, WI on August 10th- maybe I will play an original or two...stay tuned...
