Just Another Memory...

I have just returned from the State Finals of The Colgate Country Showdown. While the experience was a memorable experience, it wasn't a road in which I was meant to take. Last night, 8 of us finalists took the stage, gave it what we had, and prayed for the best. Like any competition, you never exactly know what you will encounter or what type of situation will arise...last night was certainly a strange chain events. The talent that was present last night was amazing...many of the finalists in this competition were very talented! I took the stage, gave it all I had, and hoped for the best. Unfortunately, a band (the only band entered) took the state title last night. In my up most highest opinion...this band should NOT have taken it last night...there were at least 3 of us who should have placed, hands down, over them, but what's done is done and there is nothing that anyone can do about it. The band was a six piece band...composed of people in their 40s....and there were three judges, all of whom were well over the age of 55, from about the same area that the band was from, and had close to no background musical knowledge...hmmm. Anyways, it was an interesting night. I received a lot of positive feedback from people in the crowd after the show...so if I was able to reach at least one person, the performance was well worth it...no matter what the outcome was! God has a plan for me and this wasn't meant to be....BRING ON THE NEXT ONE!!!! :)

Speaking of the next one- A friend and I are possibly trying out for American Idol next week. Again, I have no expectations, but it's an experience for sure! I will be writing about more details as they arise!

In other news, it looks as if I will be making my way to Nashville, TN in Sept. as part of my prize for the "Cell Phone Superstar" Competition (the first part was the trip to Estes Park, CO). I have been in contact with a rep. from EMI (a record label in Nashville) in efforts to setup travel, etc. for me and a guest! I am very excited for this opportunity! Nothing is set in stone yet, but I will be spending 4 days in Nashville (thur-sun). During this time, I will get to participate in a photo shoot, record a song, talk with some of the reps, and much more! Be sure to check back for more details and updates about this exciting experience!

Thank you to everyone who wished me luck for this competition...I surely didn't let it get me down one bit! It's just another bump in the road!

Much Love,
Jessica
